The Arizona Auto Theft Authority (AATA) announces “Operation Night Watch” Grant solicitations will open March 19, 2018 for Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR) projects for increased auto theft detection and recovery efforts across the state. $1 million dollars in grant monies will be available for Operation “NIGHT WATCH” LPR’s. The program will be implemented in three (3) phases, utilizing IAATI’s ATPA Best Practices for LPR Program guide.
Goal: To provide AATA Grant funding to Arizona Law Enforcement agencies for auto theft detection and recovery equipment, with the goal of increasing efforts during overnight hours (12am - 6am) when Arizona vehicle and truck owners are most at risk and targeted by criminals and organized crime rings.
Requirements: Priority will be given to agencies for deployment during overnight hours (12:00am - 6:00am) when Arizona vehicles and trucks are most targeted by criminals.
Phase 1 includes funding for approximately 15-20 LPR’s in FY’18/FY’19 and support of Arizona’s new 9PM Routine Public Outreach Initiative (#9PMROUTINEAZ), reminding vehicle owners to secure their vehicles and property each night. In addition, phasing in active participation and enforcement of the statewide Watch Your Car Program, which operates daily between 1am – 5am (Phases 2 & 3).
Application deadline - For FY'19, please submit requests by August 3, 2018 for review and consideration at the September 21, 2018 Board meeting.
LPR Vendor quotes must be submitted with Operation Night Watch grants. Spec's must include - 3 camera system (night time rated) with 5-year warranty.
FY'18 Public Awareness and Law Enforcement Grants may be submitted after July 1, 2017 through April 13, 2018 for presentation at a future 2018 AATA Board meeting. The AATA has limited funding available for these Grant Programs; please see Grant Requirements above and/or contact staff for additional information or project proposals. Metal (Industry) Awareness Grants may be submitted at any time.
FY'19 Task Force and Vertical Prosecution Grant requests are due by March 30, 2018, for presentation and consideration at the Law Enforcement Subcommittee in April then May 18, 2018 before the full Board. For your requests, please submit all items (even wish list ones) needed to run your FY’19 programs.

AATA Grant Requirements -
For NEW Grant Requests - Complete an online application through AATA’s Grant database web-portal. Include as attachments Project plan, equipment estimates and other supporting documentation. The AATA grant approval process may be delayed if these requirements are not met. The Project plan should include the following:
